The Snail Who Went Too Fast

Lenny the snail was tired of being slow.
“Why,” he wondered one morning, “am I so slow?”
So he decided to build himself some wheels from acorn caps.
With his new set of wheels, Lenny could zoom, zoom, zoom!
He zoomed so fast that everything around him became a blur.
Then—CRASH!
Lenny slammed right into a rock.
That’s when he realized something.
Speed had stolen the view.
He had missed all the tiny, everyday wonders along the way.
Dewdrops clinging to blades of grass.
Ants carrying packages far too large for their tiny bodies.
Even the Mushroom Bob who always told him jokes.
Worst of all, he had sped right past a patch of sunlight that made the soil smell like home.
Lenny looked at his acorn-cap wheels one last time.
Then he took them off.
He started moving again, but slowly this time.
And as he went, he noticed everything that brought him joy.
The shiny dew drops.
The busy ants.
The warm patch of sunlight.
And silly Mushroom Bob.
Lenny smiled a great big smile.
Maybe being slow wasn't such a bad thing after all.
A little something to think about
In this story, Lenny was tired of being slow. He thought going faster would make things better, but he soon discovered that when he rushed, he missed all the little wonders around him.
The moral:
When we rush through life, we can miss the little things that make it special.
