RayPete the Mockingbird Gets Serious
MINI MINI STORIES

In the Happy Forest, there lived a mockingbird named RayPete.
Everywhere RayPete went, he repeated what everyone said.
"Look at that butterfly!" chirped Bluebird.
"Look at that butterfly!" chirped RayPete in Bluebird's voice.
The forest giggled.
"I found an acorn!" squeaked Squirrel.
"I found an acorn!" squeaked RayPete.
The giggles grew even louder.
RayPete loved making everyone laugh, and he was very proud of his impressions.
One sunny afternoon, Owl spotted a fox quietly sneaking through the bushes.
"Watch out, RayPete!" called Owl.
"Watch out, RayPete!" repeated RayPete in Owl's voice.
"No, really!" cried Owl.
"No, really!" echoed RayPete.
But this time, nobody laughed.
The forest became quiet as everyone realized Owl was serious.
By the time RayPete understood Owl wasn't putting on a show, the fox had almost reached him!
With a quick flap of his wings, RayPete darted safely into a nearby tree.
He looked down at Owl.
"Thank you," he said.
For the first time, RayPete realized that not every moment was a moment for a joke.
He still loved doing impressions and making everyone laugh.
But he learned that sometimes it was important to be serious and pay attention.
